"Hanging Out" is socially driven.
Youths develop, maintain and deepen friendships through networking sites such as facebook, myspace, and instant messaging programs. Web2.0 users play games with their peers and many are constantly connected ("always on") through different forums.
These sites can be especially beneficial for marginalized youths who can find commonalities and support from other teens. This use of the internet has redefined hanging out and interactions for families as well, however acceptable adult use of social networking sites to communicate with youths is limited.
